Qualifications for certification -- Fee

(1) Each applicant for certification under this chapter shall provide proof satisfactory to the division
that the applicant:
(a) holds a baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate degree conferred by a college or university
approved by the division at the time the degree was conferred with a major course of study in
the sciences of food, dietetics, food systems management, or an equivalent major course of
study;
(b) has completed an internship or preplanned professional baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate
experience in a dietetic program under the supervision of a certified dietitian who is certified
under this chapter or certified, registered, or licensed under the laws of another state or
territory of the United States;
(c) has satisfactorily passed a competency examination, approved by or given at the direction of
the division; and
(d) has paid the appropriate fees determined by the Department of Commerce. The fee
assessed by the Department of Commerce shall be fair and reasonable and shall reflect the
cost of services provided.
(2) In addition to the requirements of Subsection 58-49-4(1), an applicant seeking to exercise the
compact privilege in accordance with Chapter 89, Dietitian Licensure Compact, shall:

(a) complete a criminal background check in accordance with Section 58-1-301.5;
(b) meet any other standard related to the criminal background check described in Chapters 58
through 89, that the division establishes by rule in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah
Administrative Rulemaking Act; and
(c) disclose any criminal history the division requests on a form the division approves.
