Term of license and registration -- Expiration -- Renewal -- Individuals

(1)
(a) Except as provided in Subsection (3), the division shall provide licensing under this chapter
in accordance with a two-year renewal cycle established by division rule made in accordance
with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act.
(b) The division may extend or shorten a license renewal period by as much as one year to
maintain established renewal cycles or to change an established renewal cycle.

(2) Subject to Subsection (3), a license automatically expires on the expiration date shown on the
license unless renewed by the licensed individual in accordance with Section 58-1-308.
(3)
(a) A massage apprentice license expires 24 months after the day on which the division issues
the massage apprentice license.
(b) A massage assistant-in-training license expires six months after the day on which the division
issues the massage assistant-in-training license.
(c) The division may not renew or extend a massage apprentice or massage assistant-in-training
license unless:
(i) a circumstance or hardship arose beyond the individual's control that prevented the
individual from completing the process;
(ii) the division grants the renewal or extension for a period proportionate to the circumstance or
hardship; and
(iii) the individual's massage therapy supervisor consents in writing to the renewal or extension.
(4) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the division may
make rules establishing the evidence an applicant shall present to renew a license.
