Utah Code § 53H-15-101

General provisions -- Definitions

As used in this chapter:
(1) "Advisory board" means the Utah Data Research Advisory Board created in Section
53H-15-203.
(2) "Center" means the Utah Data Research Center created in Section 53H-15-202.
(3) "Data" means any information about a person stored in a physical or electronic record.
(4) "Data research program" means the data maintained by the center in accordance with Section
53H-15-302.
(5) "De-identified data" means data about a person that cannot, without additional information,
identify the person to another person or machine.
(6) "Director" means the director of the Utah Data Research Center created in Section 53H-15-202.
(7) "Office" means the Office of the Legislative Auditor General created in Section 36-12-15.
(8) "Participating entity" means:
(a) the State Board of Education, which includes the director as defined in Section 53E-10-701;
(b) the board;
(c) the Department of Workforce Services;
(d) the Department of Health and Human Services; and
(e) the Department of Commerce.
(9) "Participating state agency" means a department, division, office, entity, agency, or other unit of
state government that provides data to the program described under Section 53H-15-305.
(10) "Personal data" means data as defined in Subsection 63A-19-101(24).
(11) "Unique student identifier" means the same as that term is defined in Section 53E-4-308.
