School safety -- Compliance

(1) As used in this section:
(a) "Compliance issue" means a violation of a school safety requirement under:
(i) this chapter; or
(ii) rules established in accordance with this chapter.
(b) "Tiered system of support" means an escalating system of:
(i) technical assistance;
(ii) intervention; and
(iii) corrective action.
(2) The state security chief shall, in collaboration with the School Safety Center:
(a) establish a tiered system of support for a compliance issue;
(b) develop implementation procedures for the system; and
(c) define criteria for:
(i) evaluating a compliance issue;
(ii) assigning an appropriate tier; and
(iii) monitoring progress.
(3) In establishing the system under Subsection (2), the state security chief and School Safety
Center shall consider:
(a) severity of the compliance issue;
(b) risk to student and staff safety;
(c) available technical assistance resources;
(d) local education agency capacity; and
(e) required corrective action timelines.
