(1) It is unlawful for a person who is not operating under the license of a medical cannabis research licensee to obtain or possess cannabis for academic medical cannabis research. (2) It is unlawful for a cannabis production establishment to offer, sell, or otherwise provide cannabis or cannabis products for the purpose of academic research to an entity that is not a medical cannabis research licensee. (3) The department may seize from a medical cannabis research licensee and destroy cannabis or cannabis products that do not comply with this chapter.
