Utah Code § 26B-5-335

Notice of commitment

Whenever a patient has been temporarily, involuntarily committed to a local mental health
authority under Section 26B-5-331 on the application of an individual other than the patient's legal
guardian, spouse, or next of kin, the local mental health authority or a designee of the local mental
health authority shall immediately notify the patient's legal guardian, spouse, or next of kin, if
known.
