(1) Except as provided in Subsection (2), no later than 32 calendar days before the day of the municipal general election: (a) the election officer of a municipality shall, in accordance with Section 20A-5a-102, publish notice of the municipal general election for the municipality, as a class A notice under Section 63G-30-102, for the entire period beginning on the day on which the election office of the municipality publishes the notice, and ending at the end of the day of the municipal general election; and (b) the clerk of a special district shall, in accordance with Section 20A-5a-102, publish notice of the general election for the special district, as a class A notice under Section 63G-30-102, for the entire period beginning on the day on which the special district clerk publishes the notice, and ending at the end of the day of the municipal general election. (2) The county clerk may: (a) publish the notice described in Subsection (1)(a) for the municipality, if the election officer for the municipality contracts for the county to conduct the municipal general election; (b) publish the notice described in Subsection (1)(b) for the special district, if the special district clerk contracts for the county clerk to conduct the special district election; or (c) subject to Subsections (2)(a) and (b), publish the notices described in Subsections (2)(a) and (b) as a combined notice.
