(1) A person interested in becoming a candidate for the office of State Board of Education member shall: (a) file a declaration of candidacy in accordance with Sections 20A-9-201 and 20A-9-202; (b) file a certificate of nomination in accordance with Sections 20A-9-501, 20A-9-502, and 20A-9-503; or (c) seek placement on the ballot as a write-in candidate in accordance with Sections 20A-9-601 and 20A-9-602. (2) The office of State Board of Education member may be filled by an individual running as a member of a political party, as unaffiliated, or as a write-in candidate.
