Vacancies -- Compensation -- Removal from office

(1) Any vacancy occurring on the council shall be filled by appointment by the county executive for
the unexpired term.
(2) A council member may not hold, during the term of the council member's office, any other
public office or be a candidate for any other public office.

(3)
(a) Each council member shall receive $50 for each meeting of the council attended by the
council member.
(b) The county legislative body may raise the compensation of a council member as the county
legislative body considers appropriate.
(c) The compensation and allowance described in Subsections (3)(a) and (b) shall be a charge
against the county and paid monthly.
(4)
(a) In case of misconduct, willful neglect, or an inability to perform the duties of the council
member's office, a council member may be removed from office by the county legislative body
upon a majority vote of the county legislative body.
(b) A county legislative body that moves to remove a council member from office under
Subsection (4)(a) shall provide the council member with the opportunity to be heard in the
council member's own defense.
