Sec. 82.651. ISLAND CHANNEL. (a) The department may construct and maintain a channel through Padre Island, Mustang Island, and St. Jo Island, or any of them. (b) The department may contract for the construction of a channel under this section on approval by the commission and approval from the federal government of an application for authority to construct channels. (c) The cost of the construction and maintenance of a channel constructed under this section may be paid from the game, fish, and water safety account only.
