Sec. 773.004. VEHICLES AND PERSONNEL EXCLUDED FROM CHAPTER. (a) This chapter does not apply to: (1) air transfer that does not advertise as an ambulance service and that is not licensed by the department; (2) the use of ground or air transfer vehicles to transport sick or injured persons in a casualty situation that exceeds the basic vehicular capacity or capability of emergency medical services providers in the area; (3) an industrial ambulance; or (4) a physician, registered nurse, or other health care practitioner licensed by this state unless the health care practitioner staffs an emergency medical services vehicle regularly. (b) In this section, "industrial ambulance" means a vehicle owned and operated by an industrial facility that is not available for hire or use by the public except to assist the local community in a disaster or when existing ambulance service is not available, and includes a ground vehicle at an industrial site used: (1) for the initial transportation or transfer of the unstable urgently sick or injured; or (2) to transport from the job site to an appropriate medical facility a person who becomes sick, injured, wounded, or otherwise incapacitated in the course of employment.
