Sec. 63.087. OPTIONAL TERM OF OFFICE. (a) The commission may provide by resolution for six-year staggered terms of office for commissioners with the term of one commissioner expiring every two years. (b) At the first election of commissioners after a resolution is adopted under this section, three commissioners shall be elected. After the commissioners have taken the oath of office and executed bonds, they shall draw lots to determine who will serve for a two-year term, who will serve for a four-year term, and who will serve for a six-year term. (c) Successors to the commissioners elected under the provisions of Subsection (b) of this section shall serve for full six-year terms.
