Sec. 54.6585. CLERK. (a) The district clerk serves as clerk of the cases referred to a magistrate under this subchapter, except: (1) the county clerk serves as clerk for a Class A or Class B misdemeanor case filed in a county criminal court and referred to a magistrate; and (2) the originating justice court clerk serves as clerk for a Class C misdemeanor case filed in a justice court and referred to a magistrate. (b) The district clerk shall establish a docket and keep the minutes for the cases referred to a magistrate under this subchapter. To facilitate the duties associated with serving as the clerk for the cases referred to a magistrate, the district clerk and deputy district clerks may serve as deputy county clerks and deputy justice clerks at the discretion of the district clerk.
