Sec. 487.551. DEFINITIONS. In this subchapter: (1) "Health professional" means a person other than a physician who holds a license, certificate, registration, permit, or other form of authorization required by law or a state agency rule that must be obtained by an individual to practice in a health care profession. (2) "Medically underserved community" means a community that: (A) is located in a county with a population of 50,000 or less; (B) has been designated under state or federal law as: (i) a health professional shortage area; or (ii) a medically underserved area; or (C) has been designated as a medically underserved community by the department.
