Sec. 437.214. MILITARY FUNERALS AND HONORS. (a) On the request of a person listed in Subsection (b), the Texas military forces may provide a military funeral and honor service for a decedent who served in the Texas military forces. (b) The following persons may request a military funeral and honor service from the Texas military forces: (1) the decedent's spouse; (2) the decedent's adult children, if there is no spouse; (3) the decedent's parents, if there is no spouse or adult child; (4) the decedent's brothers or sisters, if there is no spouse, adult child, or parent; or (5) the executor or administrator of the decedent's estate, if there is no spouse, adult child, parent, or brother or sister. (c) A service member is not eligible for a military funeral and honor service under this section if the service member is eligible for a military funeral and honor service under federal law. (d) The Texas military forces shall model the military funeral and honor service after the service provided by the federal government.
