Sec. 30.01592. CREATION. On creation of the initial municipal court of record, the governing body of the city shall determine the method of selecting the judge of a municipal court of record by: (1) adopting an ordinance that provides for the appointment of a municipal judge by the governing body of the city; (2) adopting an ordinance that provides for the election of a municipal judge by the qualified voters of the city; or (3) ordering an election in which the qualified voters of the city determine whether a municipal judge is appointed by the governing body of the city or elected.
