Sec. 262.008. ABANDONED CHILDREN. (a) An authorized representative of the Department of Family and Protective Services may assume the care, control, and custody of a child: (1) who is abandoned without identification or a means for identifying the child; and (2) whose identity cannot be ascertained by the exercise of reasonable diligence. (b) The department shall immediately file a suit to terminate the parent-child relationship of a child under Subsection (a). (c) Repealed by Acts 2015, 84th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1, Sec. 1.203(5), eff. April 2, 2015.
