Sec. 121.045. DISTRICT DIRECTOR. (a) The members of a public health district shall appoint the director of the district. (b) The director is the chief administrative officer of the public health district, and if the director is a physician, the director is the health authority in the district's jurisdiction. (c) A member may designate a person to perform its appointment duties under this section. (d) A director of a public health district who is not a physician shall appoint a physician as the health authority for the district, subject to the approval of the members and the department.
