Forfeiture for defaults

The county trustee shall incur a forfeiture of five hundred dollars ($500), to the use of the county, to be recovered on motion before the circuit court, for each of the following defaults: (1) For refusing at any time to furnish the county mayor with any vouchers or papers in the trustee's hands, deemed necessary by the county mayor for perfecting any settlement with any person accountable for the county revenue; (2) For refusing to receive, in payment of county taxes, county warrants for which the county, by law, stands indebted; or (3) For refusing to settle or pay according to law.
