Annual registration - Exclusion of catastrophic loss

(a) Each plan that purchases a contract of insurance that provides for indemnification of claims made by plan participants, except in the event of a catastrophic loss, shall register annually with the department of commerce and insurance, in the manner and on forms prescribed by the department. (b) "Catastrophic loss," as used in this section, means any contract of insurance that provides for indemnification of claims made by plan participants in the amount of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) or more per individual participant or an accumulated loss in any one (1) plan contract year in the amount of and over one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) for the employee plan.
