The sheriff or other person shall remain in the jail every night from eight o'clock p.m. (8:00 p.m.) to six o'clock a.m. (6:00 a.m.). Acts 1897, ch. 66, § 2; Shan., § 7440a2; Code 1932, § 12048; T.C.A. (orig. ed.), § 41-1113.
