South Dakota Code § 7-8A-6

Election to adopt optional form

The board of county commissioners, by ordinance, or upon receiving a petition signed by not less than fifteen percent of the registered voters in the county, based upon the total number of registered voters at the last preceding general election, shall submit to the electors the question of whether to adopt an optional form of county government authorized by this chapter. The procedures set forth in chapter
7-18A
shall govern such initiated measure and election.
