- general--Apportionment and payment by counties. For the work herein provided, the auditor - general shall be paid at the rate and in the manner fixed by law for such auditor - general, and the expense of making such apportionment shall be charged to each of the counties and the amount thereof apportioned to each county ratably upon the basis of the last equalized assessment previous to the division. It shall be the duty of the officers of the proper counties immediately after such service has been rendered to issue warrants therefor as provided by law in other cases.
