Overcharging--Civil fine--Charging station exempt

Any person who knowingly charges any consumer of gas or electricity an amount greater than that actually billed by a gas utility or electric utility, as defined in §
49-34A-1
, may be punished by a civil fine not exceeding five hundred dollars. Nothing in this section applies to an electric vehicle charging station selling or providing electricity pursuant to §
49-34A-116
.
