South Dakota Code § 36-9-86

Requirements for license as clinical nurse specialist

An applicant for licensure as a clinical nurse specialist shall submit to the board written evidence, verified by oath, that the applicant:
(1) Is currently licensed by the board as a registered nurse or has a privilege to practice in this state;
(2) Has completed an accredited graduate or post-graduate level advanced practice registered nurse program in the clinical nurse specialist role;
(3) Is currently certified by a national certifying body recognized by the board in the clinical nurse specialist role; and
(4) Is otherwise qualified under §
36-9-49
.
Any person licensed pursuant to §§
36-9-85
to
36-9-91
, inclusive, prior to July 1, 1996, is exempt from subdivision (3) of this section. The board may promulgate rules, pursuant to chapter
1-26
, regarding the application and examination process for licensure as a clinical nurse specialist.
