Licensing of licensed practical or vocational nurse from another state or country

Upon application and payment of the required fee, the board may issue a license to practice as a licensed practical nurse by endorsement to any applicant who is a graduate of an approved program or has met the requirements by equivalency and has been licensed as a licensed practical nurse or licensed vocational nurse under the laws of another state, territory, or foreign country, if, in the opinion of the board, the applicant meets the qualifications required of licensed practical nurses in this state at the time of original licensure. However, if any applicant for licensure by endorsement has not been engaged in the practice of nursing in the past six years, the board may establish reentry standards, by rules promulgated pursuant to chapter
1-26
, and may require written evidence, verified by oath, as may be necessary to determine compliance with the standards.
