In addition to any other power granted to the board, the board may take any action that is necessary and proper to effectuate the purposes of this chapter, including: (1) The power to sue and be sued in its official name as an agency of this state; (2) To issue subpoenas to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents; (3) To administer oaths; (4) To take testimony and to cooperate with the appropriate authorities in other states in investigation and enforcement concerning violations of this chapter and comparable acts of other states; and (5) To receive evidence, concerning all matters within the scope of this chapter. In case of disobedience of a subpoena, the board may invoke the aid of any court in requiring the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production of documentary evidence.
