South Dakota Code § 32-12A-20.2

Veteran designation on license or permit--Requirements

A designation that the licensee is a veteran must be indicated on a commercial driver license or a commercial learner's permit issued pursuant to this chapter if the licensee or permit holder:
(1) Is a veteran as defined in §
33A-1-1
;
(2) Has requested the designation on the license or permit; and
(3) Has provided proof of the veteran's military service and honorable discharge by submitting to the department:
(a) A certificate signed by a county veterans service officer on a form prescribed by the Department of Veterans Affairs;
(b) National Guard Form NGB-22;
(c) A Uniformed Services Identification card;
(d) United States military Form DD-2;
(e) United States military Form DD-2A; or
(f) United States military Form DD-214.
