A member's period of active membership in the system is established by the date of the employer contribution report to the system, which must include the member's initial employee and employer contributions. A member's active membership is terminated when the system receives notice of termination from an employer, accompanied by the member's final employee and employer contributions. If the system receives any employee and employer contributions on behalf of a member during a calendar quarter, the member must be credited with a full calendar quarter of contributory service toward calculating the member's benefits or determining the member's eligibility for benefits, but not for determining whether a member's death was active status or inactive status.
