Each law enforcement canine team in the state shall be initially certified and annually recertified in one or more of the following specialties: (1) The detection of the odors of drugs and controlled substances; (2) The detection of the odors of explosive materials, explosive devices, and materials which can be used to construct an explosive device; (3) The detection of odors of any other substance or material which can be used with criminal intent; (4) Apprehension or search skills including tracking, building suspect search, article recovery, evidence search, and suspect apprehension.
