Grand theft is a Class 6 felony if the property stolen: (1) Exceeds one thousand dollars in value but is less than or equal to two thousand five hundred dollars; (2) Is a firearm with a value of less than or equal to two thousand five hundred dollars; (3) Is taken from the person of another with a value of less than or equal to two thousand five hundred dollars ; or (4) Is livestock, as defined in § 21-61-1 , with a value of less than or equal to two thousand five hundred dollars. Grand theft is a Class 5 felony if the value of the property is more than two thousand five hundred dollars but less than or equal to five thousand dollars. Grand theft is a Class 4 felony if the value of the property is more than five thousand dollars but less than or equal to one hundred thousand dollars. Grand theft is a Class 3 felony if the value of the property is more than one hundred thousand dollars but less than or equal to five hundred thousand dollars.
