The Board of Regents shall employ staff necessary to meet the needs of those persons entitled to benefits through South Dakota Services for the Deaf. The administrator shall have knowledge concerning the educational needs of students with sensory disabilities. The administrator shall work to increase knowledge and skill in the use of American sign language. The board may hire one person to serve as both the superintendent of the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and as the administrator of South Dakota Services for the Deaf. The person shall receive a single salary.
