Convenience fees

The secretary of state may promulgate rules, pursuant to chapter
1-26
, to establish a convenience fee. A convenience fee means a fee charged for the privilege of being able to file by paper or pay a fee by credit card, charge card, debit card, e-checks, or other form of electronic payment. The maximum fee that may be charged for the privilege of being able to file by paper is twenty dollars per filing. The maximum fee that may be charged for payment by credit card, charge card, debit card, e-checks, or other form of electronic payment shall be three percent of the transaction amount.
