(A) When a violation of the provisions of this chapter is discovered, the person in violation must be granted thirty days to correct the violation. A person who fails to correct a violation is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days for each offense. (B) A separate violation is deemed to have occurred with respect to each building not in compliance with this chapter. Each day the violation continues constitutes a separate violation. Editor's Note 2009 Act No. 46 SECTION 3, effective July 1, 2009, provides as follows: "The provisions of this act do not apply to projects which have received the proper permits as required by law before the effective date of this act." Effect of Amendment The 2009 amendment rewrote this section.
