The month of September of every year is declared "Golden-September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" in South Carolina to honor and give courage to all those children in our State who are fighting this terrible disease. Editor's Note 2013 Act No. 25, SECTION 1, provides as follows: "SECTION 1. The General Assembly finds that: "(1) cancer is a disease that affects Americans of every sex, gender, race, and ethnicity; "(2) it is a particularly horrible disease when it strikes children; and "(3) to declare the month of September of each year as 'Childhood Cancer Awareness Month' in South Carolina and to designate it as 'Golden-September' would honor and give courage to all those children in our State who are fighting this terrible disease."
