(A) Subject to the provisions in this section, the department shall promulgate regulations to permit and regulate field trials during the year including the closed season. (B) A person violating the provisions of this section or regulations promulgated pursuant to this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days for each offense. (C) A participant in any field trial permitted by the department is not required to obtain a hunting license or a wildlife management area permit if the participant is not carrying a weapon typically used for hunting and no game is taken. (D) There shall be no field trials conducted on wildlife management areas outside of the regular season, except as permitted by the department. Editor's Note 2010 Act No. 174, SECTION 2, provides: "Any regulations in conflict with the provisions of this act are repealed." Effect of Amendment The 2010 amendment rewrote the section.
