A person who violates this chapter must be fined not more than one thousand dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days for a first offense, and must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned for not more than ninety days for a second offense. Editor's Note 2017 Act No. 86, SECTION 4, provides as follows: "This act takes effect January 1, 2018, and applies to acts committed on or after that date."
