As used in this article: (1) "Department" means the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. (2) "Director" means the Director of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. (3) "Joint Commission" means the Joint Commission, formerly known as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, a not-for-profit organization that accredits hospitals and other health care organizations.
