(a) This chapter applies to (1) fire and allied lines and inland marine insurance, as defined in Section 38-73-310 and (2) casualty insurance, including fidelity, surety, and guaranty bonds, and to all other forms of automobile insurance, in either case on risks located or operations in this State. However, Article 3 and Article 5 of this chapter apply only to the respective classes of insurance as stated in Sections 38-73-310 and 38-73-410. (b) This chapter does not apply to: (1) reinsurance, other than joint reinsurance to the extent stated in Article 15 of this chapter; (2) insurance of vessels or craft or their cargoes, marine builders' risks, marine protection and indemnity, or other risks commonly insured under marine, as distinguished from inland marine, insurance policies; (3) accident and health insurance; (4) insurance against loss of or damage to aircraft or against liability arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of aircraft; or (5) life insurance.
