(A) The board may refuse to issue or renew the license or may suspend or revoke the license of a funeral director or embalmer who violates a provision of this chapter. (B) A person who violates a provision of this chapter is subject to a civil fine of up to twenty-five thousand dollars. A licensed funeral director or embalmer who violates a provision of this chapter must be reported to the State Board of Funeral Service for immediate investigation and disciplinary proceedings. (C) The provisions of Section 40-19-160 apply to disciplinary actions under this chapter. Effect of Amendment 2024 Act No. 223, SECTION 5, in (B), in the first sentence, substituted "of up to twenty-five thousand dollars" for "not to exceed five thousand dollars", and added the second sentence.
