Appointment, qualifications, and tenure.

All commissioned and warrant officers of the South Carolina National Guard shall be appointed and commissioned or warranted by the Governor. No person must be appointed and commissioned or warranted unless he meets federal requirements for the appointment.
Effect of Amendment
2025 Act No. 55, SECTION 2, in the second sentence, substituted "he meets federal requirements" for "he is a citizen of the United States and meets federal residency requirements"; and deleted the last two sentences relating to age requirements and retaining commissions.
