Operation of centers; rules and regulations; funding and lease of building.

For the Department of Corrections to establish and maintain a center for alcohol and drug rehabilitation, its director shall coordinate with the Office of Substance Use Services to:
(1) develop policies and procedures for the operation of the center for alcohol and drug rehabilitation;
(2) fund other management options advantageous to the State including, but not limited to, contracting with public or nonpublic entities for the management of a center for alcohol and drug rehabilitation;
(3) lease buildings;
(4) develop standards for alcohol and drug abuse counseling for offenders sentenced to a center for alcohol and drug rehabilitation;
(5) develop standards for disciplinary rules to be imposed on residents of a center for alcohol and drug rehabilitation.

At the direction of the Code Commissioner, certain references in the S.C. Code to the State Department of Mental Health, South Carolina Mental Health Commission, Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Commission, Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, and other related terms were changed to reflect the restructuring of these agencies into component offices under the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, pursuant to 2025 Act No. 3, SECTION 18.
