When a municipality employs only one law enforcement officer and that officer is attending law enforcement training at the academy as required by law, the sheriff of the county wherein the municipality is located, or the head of the entity in charge of countywide law enforcement if the county sheriff is not, shall provide systematic patrolling of the municipal area while its law enforcement officer is attending the training. Effect of Amendment 2014 Act No. 225, SECTION 1, substituted "academy" for "South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy".
