(A) A claim for punitive damages must be specifically prayed for in the complaint. (B) The plaintiff shall not specifically plead an amount of punitive damages, only that punitive damages are sought in the action. Editor's Note 2011 Act No. 52, SECTION 7, provides as follows: "SECTION 7. This act takes effect January 1, 2012, and applies to all actions that accrue on or after the effective date except the provisions of SECTION 3 do not apply to any matter pending on the effective date of this act."
