Exchanges by secretary of state

The secretary of state may in his or her discretion transmit copies of acts, resolutions and reports published by him or her to any state, territory, province, or country which extends a similar privilege to the state library and, upon recommendation of the state librarian, he or she shall send in exchange to a designated depository in the state, territory, province, or country, in accordance with the provisions of § 29-1-5 [repealed], copies of acts, resolutions and reports published by him or her. The secretary of state may also transmit to any official receiving publications, in accordance with § 43-2-5, copies of publications issued under authority of the state, and in his or her custody, to replace volumes, which have been mutilated or have become defective, upon receipt of the mutilated or defective volume in exchange.
