The department of public safety is responsible to: (1) Improve the economy, efficiency, coordination, and quality of public safety services policy and planning, budgeting and financing, communications and training. (2) Increase public confidence by conducting independent reviews of public safety issues in order to promote accountability and coordination across divisions and agencies. (3) Ensure that state public safety policies and programs are responsive to changing needs to the network of public safety organizations that deliver similar services and efforts.
