The committee shall have the following duties and responsibilities: (1) Establish goals or projections annually, based on an analysis of past activity, for each component of the criminal justice system; set capacities for each secure facility; and incorporate inmate population limits set by court order, consent decree, or otherwise, as may be amended from time to time. (2) Monitor closely the compliance of each component of the criminal justice system with its established annual goals or projections. (3) Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of systemic improvements and intermediate sanctions as may be recommended and adopted by the committee from time to time. (4) Coordinate and oversee such remedial measures as may be needed to address and reduce overcrowding at the adult correctional institutions, including, but not limited to, construction of additional prison beds.
