Rhode Island bridge replacement, reconstruction, and maintenance fund established

(a) There is hereby created a special account in the intermodal surface transportation fund, as established in § 31-36-20, to be known as the Rhode Island bridge replacement, reconstruction, and maintenance fund (“the fund”). (b) The fund shall consist of all those monies received by the department under this chapter, including: (1) The monies received through the collection of tolls on bridges in Rhode Island; (2) Any fees, fines, or penalties collected pursuant to this chapter; and (3) Investment earnings on amounts credited to the fund. (c) Unexpended balances and any earnings thereon shall not revert to the general fund but shall remain in the Rhode Island bridge replacement, reconstruction, and maintenance fund. There shall be no requirement that monies received into the fund during any given calendar year or fiscal year be expended during the same calendar year or fiscal year.
