(a) Recreation board or other authority.-- The authority to supervise and maintain recreation places may be vested in any existing body or board, including the council, or in a recreation board, as the council shall determine. The council of the borough may equip, operate and maintain the recreation places, as authorized by this chapter, and may, for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this chapter, employ any officers or employees as it may deem proper. (b) (Reserved). (c) Joint recreation board.-- Any borough may join or create, with one or more municipalities, a joint recreation board in accordance with 53 Pa.C.S. Ch. 23 Subch. A (relating to intergovernmental cooperation). The composition of the board and its powers and duties shall be as provided by agreement of the governing bodies of the municipalities.
