(a) General rule.-- Persons commissioned to and holding in the Pennsylvania Guard the rank of general officer shall be known as general officers of the Pennsylvania Guard. The number of general officers shall be determined by the Governor. General officers shall be appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Senate unless previously confirmed as a general officer by the Senate. (b) Qualifications.-- Any person appointed a general officer of the Pennsylvania Guard shall have served at least ten years as a commissioned officer in either the Pennsylvania National Guard, Pennsylvania Guard or any of the armed forces of the United States or their reserve components, which service may be cumulative.
